Piero della Francesca died in 1492

12 October, 2016

Italian painter Piero della Francesca was an artist, mathematician and geometer of the Early Renaissance.  He is internationally known for his art, characterized by  serene humanism and the use of geometric forms and perspective.

One of his most famous work is the cycle of frescoes The History of the True Cross in the church of San Francesco in the Tuscan town of Arezzo.

We highlight here the exhibition held at the Metropolitan Museum under the tile Personal Encounters, focused on his devotional paintings.
