Alice Neel - Collector of Souls  |  Art, September 5 - December 7, 2008 The American artist Alice Neel (1900-1984) is the first to be featured in the new exhibition series Moderna Museet Now, a series of small scale exhibitions of contemporary art, occasionally featuring historically interesting oeuvres. Neel's imposing portraits and self-portraits earned her influence and acclaim, despite private and professional hardships. The Deluded Eye Five centuries of deception  |  Art, 09 25 2008 - 01 11 2009 This autumn the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm will open a major exhibition devoted to the playful art of deceiving the eye, the "trompe -l'oeil". Visitors will confront some 150 works of art chosen from five centuries, including large-scale contemporary works. While the emphasis is on paintings there are also photographs, sculptures, applied arts, prints, architectural drawings and landscape-gardening plans. A number of works are interesting loans from abroad.
