REMBRANDT  |  Old Masters, 10 15 2008 - 01 6 2009

REMBRANDT

The exhibition features works from all the periods in Rembrandt's career. In his early paintings, the gestures of the human figures are extroverted and their gaze is often mocking and jocular. In his mature works, the emotions are more suppressed and the emphasis is on their mental energy.

La invención del siglo XX. Carl Einstein y las Vanguardias  |  Art, 11 12 2008 - 02 16 2009

La invención del siglo XX. Carl Einstein y las Vanguardias

The art critic and historian Carl Einstein was one of the most important and multifaceted personalities of the 20th-century artistic avant-garde. His books, articles and essays were fundamental pieces for the critical study of the avant-garde movements; in them he introduced the West to African art and ratified Cubism as a movement in its own right. His intellectual oeuvre, rediscovered in recent decades, is now paid tribute at the MNCARS

Leandro Erlich. La Torre

The installations of Argentinean visual artist Leandro Erlich question the perception of reality through simulations and optical effects. The artist manipulates everyday situations and spaces in order to establish a parallel reality that is linked to the sole, objective truth. In his first individual exhibition in Spain, Erlich presents one of his most ambitious projects – La Torre (The Tower).
