Cult of the Artist: Jeff Koons Celebration  |   Contemporary Art, 10 31 2008 - 02 8 2009 Jeff Koons' art installation in the upper hall of the New National Gallery will prove to be a spectacular performance from this prominent contemporary artist. With his sound-installation Applause the artist evokes the illusion of a grand audience which applauds an invisible presentation. Criticism exhausts itself in eulogy and obeisance. Art has been shrunk to a pretext for a social occasion and suffices as an agreement.
