The Luis Ángel Arango Library is a cultural center dedicated to promote various activities related to the arts , education and culture in general throughout the year as concerts, art exhibits and conferences.
The National Museum of Colombia was founded in 1823 as Museo de Historia Natural y Escuela de Minería and it’s the oldest museum in the country. The Museum was initially installed at the ancient Casa de la Expedición Botánica and after various changes in 1948 was transferred to its present location, the Central Penitentiary of Cundinamarca. The Museum’s collection is organized in four areas: art, history, archaeology and ethnography, more than 20,000 pieces displayed in 17 permanent exhibition galleries. There is also a temporaries exhibition gallery located in the first floor.
