Initiated in 2006, the Art Beijing has, over its seven years of development, evolved into one of China’s most influential art fairs. Since 2012 when Art Beijing integrated the “Art Beijing Contemporary Art Fair” held each April and the “Art Beijing Fine Art Fair” held each September, the Art Beijing has grown significantly in scale. Since this integration of the two fairs, the Art Beijing has made a number of new breakthroughs, creating a new milestone for China’s art fair, as well as ushering in a new era for Art Beijing. Art Beijing 2013 will be held at the Agricultural Exhibition Center of China in Beijing from April 30 to May 3, with an exhibition space of 20,000 sq meters, approximately the same as the previous year. The exhibition area will also be divided into Contemporary Art section and Classic Art sections. Art Beijing plans to invite 200 art galleries, art agencies, and art media from both home and abroad to participate. Exhibited works will cover a range of media, including Chinese calligraphy, oil painting, engraving, sketch, sculpture, installation, photo, video, antiques, furniture, and jewelry.

VOLTA is a dynamic platform showcasing international contemporary art galleries of global repute that choose as their mandate to work with the most exciting emerging artists. The galleries are selected by an annually changing Curatorial Board to give each edition its own clear identity and to emphasize the artists themselves and their representing galleries. A majority of exhibitors this year feature solo presentations, or two to three artists in dialogue, contributing to VOLTA's most focused edition yet.
