Da Lega a Guttuso

Bringing together works by various generations of artists who were alive and active during the second half of the nineteenth century - included are artists who belonged to the Macchiaioli movement from Tuscany, Lombard Romantics and also Verists from Naples and Sicily - the exhibition aims to illustrate the Garibaldi myth in its various manifestations, looking back over the development of historical painting and so-called genre painting in relation to the popular epos of Garibaldi.

The Single Room Hotel Etienne Boulanger

Grand opening of The Single Room Hotel, an affordable 2-star hotel made by artist, Etienne Boulanger. Contained within four walls of billboards and public advertising, the hotel offers a modestly lavish and cozy interior including electricity, heat, and hot water. The hotel is centrally and uniquely located on the grounds of Skulpturenpark in Berlin-Mitte. For the sophisticated traveler and everyday adventurer, it is within walking distance of nearly all of Berlin's most significant tourist attractions. The hotel will be open from November until March. Sigalit Landau The Dining Hall

The Dining Hall is a new and site-specific installation by Israeli artist Sigalit Landau, in its main hall. Ten years after participating in Documenta X, this is her first large solo exhibition in Germany. Landau's works relate to her Jewish identity, centering on questions of place and borders, foreignness and migration, individual and collective, reality and utopia.

Fábulas de Velázquez: Mitología e Historia Sagrada en el Siglo de Oro

As part of its inaugural programme marking the opening of the new extension, the Museo del Prado is presenting the exhibition Velázquez' Fables, the first to offer an in-depth analysis of this aspect of the artist's work as a painter of narratives. The exhibition brings together 27 works by the artist in addition to 24 by 17 other artists with the aim of revealing the context in which the artist executed some of his most important paintings. Among the works by Velázquez to be seen in the exhibition are 12 loans including The Rokeby Venus from the National Gallery in London, one of the artist's most famous works no longer in Spain.

Being shown for the first time in Italy are 300 masterpieces from The Forbidden City, one of the most majestic and impressive museum complexes in the world, to tell the story of the life of the court and the splendour of China under the reign of the Emperor Qianlong (1711-1799), literally king of the "Great Universe", considered the political and cultural heydey of the last royal dynasty of the middle countries (1644-1911).
