Zaha Mohammad Hadid, DBE (31 October 1950 – 31 March 2016) has died today of a heart attack, as reported by many media including The Guardian. She was at a hospital in Miami being treated for bronchitis.
The Iraqi-British architect became the first woman recipient of the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 2004. She also received the Stirling Prize in 2010 and 2011. In 2012 she became Dame and in 2015, he first woman to be awarded the RIBA Gold Medal in her own right.
