Leonardo da Vinci died in 1519

1 May, 2017

Italian artist Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci (1452 – 1519), epitomized the Renaissance humanist ideal. He is considered, as Michelangelo Buonarroti, a Universal Genious.

His interests were vast, including invention, painting, sculpting, architecture, science, music, mathematics, engineering, literature, anatomy, geology, astronomy, botany, writing, history, and cartography, although he is renowned primarily as a painter.

Including in the long list of Leonardo’s famous works: the Mona Lisa, The Last Supper and the Vitruvian Man, a drawing that  is also regarded as a cultural icon.

We remember here the exhibition Leonardo in the Court of Milan, held at The National Gallery, aiming to examining Leonardo’s extraordinary observation, imagination and technique during his career as a court painter in Milan, working for the city’s ruler Ludovico Maria Sforza, il Moro in the 1480s and 1490s.
