John the Baptist (c. 1513–16), Louvre.

Italian artist Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci (1452 – 1519), epitomized the Renaissance humanist ideal. He is considered, as Michelangelo Buonarroti, a Universal Genious.

His interests were vast, including invention, painting, sculpting, architecture, science, music, mathematics, engineering, literature, anatomy, geology, astronomy, botany, writing, history, and cartography, although he is renowned primarily as a painter.

Including in the long list of famous works: the Mona Lisa, The Last Supper and the Vitruvian Man, a drawing that  is also regarded as a cultural icon.

We remember here the exhibition Leonardo in the Court of Milan, held at The National Gallery presents a landmark exhibition, Leonardo da Vinci: Painter at the Court of Milan, aiming to examining Leonardo’s extraordinary observation, imagination and technique during his career as a court painter in Milan, working for the city’s ruler Ludovico Maria Sforza, il Moro in the 1480s and 1490s.
