The Last Judgement (1534–41)
Italian sculptor, painter, architect, poet, and engineer Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni (1475 –1564), was an of the High Renaissance who is considered as one of the greatest artists of all time. His artworks (paintings, sculptures, architectures) are among the most famous in existence, being the most universally known the paintings of the Capella Sistina in Rome and the Pietà and David sculptures.
We highlight here an interesting exhibition at the Casa Buonarroti in Florence called Michelangelo and the 20th Century, celebrating the 450th anniversary of the death of Michelangelo with the exhibition dedicated to the fortunes of the figure and the works of the artist over the course of the last century, with a particular accent on the presence of the artist in 20th-century visual culture.
