The greatest printmaker of the Dutch Golden Age, Rembrandt, was born in 1606
15 July, 2016
Dutch painter Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn (1606 – 1669) was a Dutch painter and etcher. He is generally considered one of the greatest painters and printmakers in European art and the most important in Dutch history. He is internationally renown for his portraits -of his contemporaries and self-portraits- as well as illustrations of scenes from the Bible.
We highlight here the exhibition that The National Gallery presented under the title Rembrandt: The Late Works – the first ever in-depth exploration of Rembrandt’s final years of painting.
